Sports Bar Gaming

   If you come to the south there is no doubt in anyone's mind down here.  The SEC is the best and for some people the only conference in the NCAA.  They may not even watch other teams unless they are playing a SEC team.     This bowl season is not showing that to be true though.  The SEC is at the moment of writing this 0-3 and with Mississippi State playing at this moment we are looking at 0-4.  I know that we have two teams playing in the playoffs and another team playing Monday as well.     I live in the south and love SEC football but I do not think that we are the best conference.  There have been years that we were the best conference in the NCAA but they are not in previous years.  We have a few good teams a year but the overall conference is below average. 

  I hope that everyone had a good Christmas or whatever holiday you celebrate this time of the year.  This weekend was jam packed with sports.  From the NFL to the NBA and some college football and basketball as well.      On Saturday the Ravens beat the Colts and the Vikings pitched a shut out on the Rogerless Green Bay Packers. Then came Sunday and the whole league played.  The Patriots silenced the Bills Mafia.  The Panthers barely squeezed by the Bucs and the Bears came out of hibernation to beat the Browns. The Bengals beat the lions back into their cage and the Rams came out by a horn against the Titans. The Chiefs wouldn't let the Dolphins come up for air while the Saints clipped the wings of the Falcons. The Chargers had just enough juice to get by the Jets and the Redskins rod the Broncos down to the endzone. The 49ers put the Jaguars back in their cage while the Seahawks took a poop on the heads of the Cowboys. The Cardinals...

    Hey everyone out there in the Sports Bar Gaming Community.  I wanted to wish you all a Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays or whatever you have going on this time of the year.     I will not be writing again until Tuesday because I will be spending time with family.  So until then enjoy your time and be safe. 

Craziest call I have seen in a long time but according to the NFL it was the right call and did not violate any rules.  During the Cowboys fourth quarter drive against the Raiders there was a need to measure a first down.  The ref at the time was certain that they had gotten the first down but to be sure he took a index card and tried to fit it between the ball and the pole.  When the card made contact with the ball and did not slide through it was official First Down Cowboys. Which in turn helped lead them to victory.  What do you think about this call and the way it was executed.  Comment below.

  Today started the Bowl season and the start of Bowl Mania.  Capital One sponsored Bowl Mania this year and I personally like the idea a lot.  I am a huge fan of fantasy sports and pick ems and things like that because it adds a new level of interest to games that otherwise wouldn't matte to me.  That has always in my mind been the a big part of the success of March Madness.  With the amount of bowls seeming to grow every year something like Bowl Mania was bound to happen.      That being said the amount of bowls is also a little much.  Looking at the line up of bowl games from the Bowl Mania I was left asking myself some "Who is that team?"  And I follow sports and watch a lot of games a week.  That means that your average guy who either likes his one team or one conference is not going to have a clue who more than half of the teams in this games are and is going to have no interest in the games.   ...

The Laker Cavs game is just started and the question is coming up.  Could Lebron go to the Lakers.  I personally don't think that this is a good move by him.  He is the man in Cleveland and has no reason to go to L.A  The team in the land is built around him. I think that he would be a good teacher for Lonzo in his early years but that is not a reason to transfer to a team.  Where do yal think that Lebron will go for free agency?

   The final four are set to go on January 1st for the College Football Playoffs.  It is going to be a good year with the match ups.     We will start with the Georgia and Oklahoma game.  This should be a close game unless the team that played Auburn gets off the bus and tries to play that game.  Oklahoma's offence will pick them apart if the defense is not set and ready to go.  The passing game is going to be a big factor from the Heisman winning Baker Mayfield.  I am hoping that Georgia wins but that is just my SEC biased.  I think that logically Oklahoma will beat them 21-7.     Them we have the rematch.  Clemson vs Alabama.  I think that the Crimson Tide should easily beat this team this year.  They are not as good as they were last year.  That being said.  The Tide has yet to be tested but by Auburn and they did not come out of that one well.  So this one is more of a toss up ...

   Some sad news coming out today.  Carson Wentz will miss the rest of the season for the Eagles.  He has a torn ACL.     They had a good run.  11-2 season and winning the NFC East.  They will now be a one and done team in the playoffs and we will all be sad that the Patriots win yet another  Super Bowl    This is horrible for Carson and all Eagles fan a like.  Prayers going out for Carson and hope this is a quick and easy recovery and he can come back and get that ring next season.

   It is that weekend again.  The brave men that risk their lives to protect our country are going to take the field and go head to head in this historic match up.  It's Army VS Navy today at 2 P.M Central.    This game has been being played since 1890.  It is hard to think of now but at the start of the 20th century  this two teams where national championship contenders so this game meant a lot.  This game means a lot to the seniors of the two squads who this is more than likely their last football game before they are put into active duty.    Players from this two teams have gone on to do great things in the NFL as well.  Roger Staubach went on to be a Hall of Fame Quarterback for the Dallas Cowboys.  Other noteable names from this two teams are Phil McConkey who played for the Giants and Napoleon McCallum who played for the Raiders.    The total series record is has Navy out front 60-50-7.   Wha...

Random stock photo I found.    The odds that the Patriots go back to the Super Bowl this year are high just as they always are.  With their 10 and 2 record they lead the AFC East at this moment and will not be toppled by anyone in that division.  Because every other team in that division is crap.  The other 3 teams in that divison (Dolphins,Bills, and the Jets.) are possible besides the Browns some of the worst teams in the entire NFL.      From the beginning of the season when the Patriots came out and lost that first game I had a feeling that they would win the Championship.  They just are so good and I hate to say that because I don't like them at all but with Brady at the helm they always have a chance.      I think that the only team that stands a chance at stopping this from happening is the Eagles.  They are my only hope for this year.  They can derail this train of the Pats.  ...

   This man needs no introduction.  He is the top QB in the entire country and that was just confirmed by the College Football Awards show.  When he is in a game he controls the game.  He is the number one football player in the NCAA and deserves to win the Heisman without any doubt.  Here is a rundown of his stats for this year.  71% Completion Rate 4340 Passing Yards 41 Touchdowns and only 5 interceptions Not to mention his rushing stats He has 310 rushing yards and 5 rushing TD'S This should be a no brainer for the Heisman Trophy vote.   Well everyone's favorite NFL Commissioner just signed himself a new contract.  $200 million over the next 5 years.     This is absolutely terrible for the NFL.  He is not good for the league.  He is not managing all of the madness that is going on at the moment and dealing out suspensions left and right to players that don't deserve it but then when someone does something worth suspending for he doesn't do a thing.    It will be a sight to see how much damage he can do in the next 5 years.  Hope the NFL survives. 

  Last night Ryan Shazier took a shot that left him laying on the field and eventually carted off the field with no movement to his legs.  After the game last night the Steelers released a statement saying that he was improving and that he was hoping to return to Pittsburgh Tuesday.  He was suffering from a spinal contusion.    Today the organization released a statement that left a lot of room for worry.  They stated that he will have to stay at the Cincinnati hospital for another day at least.   They have not said anything more about his injury.    I will continue to update this story as more information becomes available. Prayers going up for a full recovery and getting to get back on the field and play the game he loves.

  After this late hit last night the Gronk is suspended for the next game.  This is the first time that the tight end has been suspended by the league since he came in.  The NFL suspended him without pay for the next game.     But lets be honest here they don't need him to beat the Dolphins.  He will be back for the next game that actually matters when they play the Steelers on 12/17.

Well it is Offical Bama made it. Now we look for a all SEC National Championship

   Does Alabama deserve a shot to be in the playoff even though they did not even compete for the SEC Championship.  Or does Ohio State,  the team that was left out of the playoffs last year who has won their conference championship deserve the chance to play?    This is the biggest question in the country right now.  Who deserves it more?    If I was going to give my personal opinion on the situation.  I think that Bama and Ohio State both deserve a shot at the title.  But Alabama not winning the conference championship is a big knock against them.  Even though they are only a one lose team they lost at the worst time and in the worst game they could have lost.    Then on the other hand you have Ohio State.  With two loses one to Oklahoma which is a understandable lose to another top team but the lose to Iowa is a killer in my book.  They may be their conference champion but they play in a weak con...

  I said a lot of bad things about  Gus  in a article earlier in the year. And some of them turned out to be wrong.  But some of them are still true.  This game has been a prime example of how his team has no clue how to adjust on the fly during the game.  If they do not come out and get ahead they lose. That is all that it boils down to.  Congrats Georgia on being the SEC Champions.  And Auburn this is what happens when you let a coach stay that doesn't know how to adapt during the game.   Comment your wild takes on my wild take.
