NFL AFC and NFC Championship Weekend
It's Championship Weekend and I can't wait to watch some football! Sadly it's all coming to end, it goes by so fast and that football hangover is starting to set in. Alright let's pick it up with a little news around the league before we jump into our Championship Sunday preview. Probably the biggest news of the week was the Oakland Raiders signing relocation papers to move the team to Las Vegas. Here's my hot take on it, if you didn't want your team leaving you should've of probably showed up to more games as a fan base simple as that, this also goes for you Chargers fans too. These NFL teams have to make money they're businesses. I think Vegas definitely needed a team, I understand why they did it, there's a huge untapped market in Vegas that's going to fill the pockets of the Raiders organization. Same with the Chargers moving to Los Angeles, the Rams moved there last year, but there's such a huge population to support both of those teams to bring in loads of revenue. It's simple guys, they didn't leave because they didn't like you anymore, it's simply business. By the way Chargers are not going to be using that horrendous LA lightening bolt logo they used to announce their new move. God that was awful.
Also around the league we've had plenty of head coaching changes go down, to some this may be old news but here's an update on what's changed in the league. I'm just going to go over a short list of who went where and where they come from. Buffalo Bills hired Pantheres defensive coordinator Sean McDermott, Denver Broncos hired Dolphins defensive coordinator Vance Joseph, Jacksonville Jaguars hired their interim head coach Doug Marrone, Los Angeles Chargers hired Bills interim head coach and offensive coordinator Anthony Lynn, Los Angeles Rams hired Redskins offensive coordinator Sean McVay. The San Francisco 49ers are rumored to hire the Atlanta Falcons offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan as their next head coach. I assume their waiting till after the Falcons Super Bowl run before they make an official announcement.
Now let's get into Championship Sunday! It's time for the AFC and NFC title games and all eyes are on these final four teams. Hats off to the Atlanta Falcons, Green Bay Packers, New England Patriots, and Pittsburgh Steelers. You guys are only one more game away from the biggest stage America has to offer.
I'm going to start off with the AFC game. Steelers vs. Pats, interesting match-up both have very explosive offenses. This game got a little extra juice after last weekends spat between the two teams. Antonio Brown broadcasted his coaches speech on Facebook live after an emotional playoff win. So what? Well you can't do that according to the NFL league rules. Then it turned into a who's got the most class and who's got the most trophies argument between Julian Edelman and Big Ben. We'll find out Sunday who's the best don't you worry guys. What's better than these two great teams, two great qbs, great receiving core, and a great backfield to boot, that's right nothing is. Steelers are going to have to play lights out perfect football to beat Brady and the Patriots. Big Ben can't be coming into this game throwing 2 or 3 picks just chunking the ball around all Willy Nilly like. Le'veon Bell needs to have a monster game, atleast a 150 yards 2 TD kind of performance. They've got to win the possession battle and play mistake free football. Patriots on the other hand it's their game to lose. If Tom Brady shows up and does Tom Brady, they'll be just fine. They have a good enough defense to slow down the Steelers explosive offense. They've got to take away Le'veon Bells running ability and contain Antonio Brown and they'll win no problem. Easier said than done, I know. I just don't see the Pats losing this one. My score prediction for this is Pats-35 Steelers-31.
Now to the NFC. Packers vs. Falcons, in what has been the Atlanta Falcons home for the past 25 years is coming to and end this Sunday. This will be the Falcons swan song for playing in the Georgia Dome. Not going to lie, I really hope Atlanta can pull this one off against the Packers. I love a good underdog in a fight. It's simple really Atlanta knows exactly what they have to do to win this game, hit Aaron Rodgers in the mouth and get him raddled. They have to be in his face or putting his ass on the ground every play to shut him down. Matt Ryan and Julio are going to find each other and make plays, it's all on that Falcons defense to step up to the plate and win this one. Now for this banged up Packers team its vice versa, Packers offensive line has to keep Aaron Rodgers protected with enough time to make plays. Aaron is the best I've ever seen when his pocket breaks down. He has a instinct of where to be and when he needs to get rid of the ball. The longer he has time to keep his eyes down field he will demolish your secondary, hands down one of the best pocket passers to pick up a pigskin. The Packers defense needs to take out Atlanta's stud receiver Julio Jones early and don't let Matt Ryan get into a groove with him. Can't let Ryan throw the deep ball to Julio the Packers defense will get gashed up. They're going to have to play very balanced as well, because when they get to double teaming Julio that's when they'll start looking to in my mind what's been the X-factor for this Falcons team all year, Devonta Freeman he's one of those backs that can do it all. My prediction for this game is a offensive shootout. Packers-38 Falcons-35.
